Universal Parks and Resorts partners with Nintendo for new, highly-themed environments in Orlando, Hollywood, and Osaka

Universal Parks and Resorts has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Nintendo to bring new, highly-themed Nintento environments to Universal's Hollywood, Orlando, and Osaka properties. Armed with the iconic Nintendo franchise, Universal will create unique Nintendo "video game" inspired areas at each of its announced three properties. According to Universal, "Gigantic Piranha Plants" will spring to life, "Question Blocks" and "Power Ups" will surround guests, and Mario and Friends will be there to greet visitors along the way. These new experiences are currently under development, and only preliminary details have been released thus far.

Here's what Universal has confirmed so far:

  • These will be expansive, immersive and interactive. They will be highly themed and authentic environments filled with multiple attractions, shops and restaurants.
  • Guests will feel as if they are playing inside their favorite games – this time in real life.
  • There will be something for everyone – regardless of their age or gaming experience level.
  • Planning and creative work on these areas is well underway; they will open separately over the next several years.

Universal will announce more details shortly on specific plans for each property. That's all for now from Theme Park Overload!
