Welcome to Theme Park Overload! The coaster announcements continue, today coming from Cedar Point! Just hours ago, they announced GateKeeper! At 170 feet tall and 4,164 feet long, it ranks at the Tallest and Longest "Wing Rider" model in the world, a type of coaster where you hang on the side of the track and nothing is above or below you! Check out the first official renderings below!
Here's an official statement from Cedar Point's general manager John Hildebrandt:
“GateKeeper’s world-record-breaking statistics, incredible flying maneuvers and special elements make it a unique coaster experience, GateKeeper is a roller coaster only Cedar Point can build and we are proud to add it to our incredible lineup of world-class attractions."
(You can visit GateKeeper's official page on Cedar Point's Website)
Let's get down to the facts. It stands 170 feet tall above Cedar Point, starting off with a Wing Over Drop (Basically a drop when you are turned completely upside down and drop down in the opposite direction) The 32 passenger trains are then flung through 6 intense inversions at 67 MPH. Some of the most exciting points of this ride is the giant corkscrew in the middle of the ride and the Zero-G twist where the train is flung through 2 concrete towers, barley missing the edges. Here are all of the recently released animated stills.
