Opening Day announced for "Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire" Virtual Reality Experience at Downtown Disney and Disney Springs

Disney has announced the opening date for their new "Star Wars: Secret of the Empire" Virtual Reality Experience. This new attraction will be located in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World resort, and will be a specially ticketed experience for guests. 

Disney partnered with ILMxLAB (A division of Lucasfilm) and The VOID to create this new VR attraction. The story is set in the Star Wars universe, and will allow guests to roam the digital environments with their friends and family. Guests will form groups of four, and "go undercover as Stormtroopers to capture Imperial intelligence vital to the budding rebellion’s survival". The Virtual Reality headset technology, along with a dedicated space for the system, will likely make the experience more immersive than any at-home VR product offering.

The Disney Springs location in Florida will open first on December 16, 2017, followed by the Downtown Disney location in California on January 5, 2018. Both sites will take advanced ticket reservations for the experience, which can be purchased at TheVoid.com
