Disney Springs Shopping District Photo Trip Report - June 2017 with Construction Updates and Disney Quest Final Look

Today we head to Disney Springs, the lively shopping and entertainment district serving Walt Disney World. In addition to the current construction projects at the center, we also take one last look at the Disney Quest indoor theme park before it closes for good next month.

Welcome to Disney Springs! If you haven’t been here in some time, you’ll notice that this place looks a whole lot different!

Following the “charming, coastal waterfront town” theme, interactive elements like this water trough add in a little extra fun while shoppers walk around.

Who doesn't like a little added theming!

The complex has covered sections too, which become a hotspot when Florida's notorious rain-fits strike

Along with name brand retailers, Disney has a few of their own signature stores in the center...

 Like Disney's Candy Cauldron!

These special Disney shops are high on theming, but low on space. Every shop that I checked out (Star Wars Galactic Outpost, Marvel Super Hero Headquarters, Candy Cauldron) had unique retail experiences, but felt quite small and cramped. But, they're interesting shops to peek in nevertheless!

Moving onto some construction happening at the Springs; first up is The Edison "Industrial Gothic" bar and restaurant that is expected to open later this year.

The exterior seems pretty complete, so the focus now is likely on the inside.

 Looking towards the left.

This looks like another unique dining option for the center, so hopefully the food will live up to the restaurant's lively facade when it opens later this year!

Just a short walk away, Wine Bar George is also under construction and expected sometime this year.

No work was going on at the moment, but hopefully things will pick back up soon.

And finally on the construction end, the Portobello Country Italian Trattoria restaurant that closed for refurbishment in April is coming along.

We'll see you again later this Fall!

Moving on to the West Side section of the center, the clock is ticking for Disney Quest. This "interactive, indoor" theme park is scheduled to close next month on July 3 to be transformed into the new NBA Experience attraction and restaurant.

While I was a little underwhelmed when I visited this dated attraction on my last visit, change is never easy (For the Disney community especially!) *Cough* Guardians of the Galaxy *Cough*

While only minimal information has been released on the new NBA Experience attraction, it'll be neat to see if existing spaces (Like the current Disney Quest gift shop pictured above) are re-purposed or completely gutted.

 Goodbye Disney Quest.

Some neat chalk art for the new Pandora land at Disney's Animal Kingdom is currently on display between all of the shops.

Change is on the horizon for the springs!
